China Guardian launched the first Big Weekend Auctions in 1994 to cater to the need of more general collectors. These auctions had simpler and more convenient procedures for bidders, while at the same time closely observed high auction standards. The auctions created brand new market opportunities and quickly gained popularity. In 1995, the Big Weekend Auctions were changed to Weekend Auctions, which took place on the second weekend of each odd-numbered month. The auctioned goods included a variety of categories covering a full range of calligraphy and painting, porcelain, ceramics, jade ware, works of art, classical furniture, jewelry, emeralds, clocks, and cameras. In 2005, to adapt to the rapid growth of this market and to better serve customers, the Weekend Auctions were renamed China Guardian Quarterly Auctions and the auction schedule was modified from once every two months to once every season. Accordingly, the auction items gathered for the Quarterly Auctions have been improved in grade and quality.

Our first Quarterly Auction, including Chinese calligraphy and paintings, porcelain, works of art, clocks and watches, etc., was a rousing success, adding confidence to this market with competitive bidding in all fields, and only goes to show the depth of interest that exists in this country for art and antiques collection.
